Activists from the London Irish Brigade protested outside the Irish embassy in London's Belgravia against planned football matches between Ireland last week. But Ireland’s home game against Israel in the Nations League will now be behind closed doors in Serbia in October. The UEFA Nations League games are scheduled for October this year with the Irish Football Association's consent, and are planned to take place in Hungary and Serbia. There have already been many protests by Irish football fans in Ireland itself. Days after the London protest, teenage Palestinian footballer Fadi al-Nassan died a week after being shot in his West Bank village in an Israeli settler attack. A spokesperson for the London Irish Brigade declared at the protest "Israel should be as isolated, in sport and in every other way, as apartheid South Africa ever was. Shame on the cowardly officials and bodies who are refusing to do it"! 

Boycott Barclays Bank!

Palestinian rights campaigners have plastered tube trains in London to make sure that tennis fans travelling to Wimbledon this week know the truth about Barclays, the tournament’s sponsor. Campaign poster ads are going up across the London Underground faster than the authorities can take them down. And the message is ‘Boycott Barclays’! 
A number of British companies have seedy and nefarious financial ties with Zionist Israel. The ongoing genocide in Palestine has intensified calls for an immediate ceasefire and sparked an international campaign supporting Palestinians in their fight against oppression. Campaigners have been raising awareness on the economic ties a vast number of UK institutions have with companies that are providing Israel with the military and technological equipment to facilitate its oppressive regime. Barclays is one of them.
Barclays Bank is bankrolling Israel’s genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. Barclays provides investment and loans worth more than eight billion pounds to arms companies supplying Israel with weapons used in its genocide in Gaza, and military assaults across the West Bank. Barclays took over Tesco Bank on 1st November 2024 so campaigners are calling on all Tesco Bank customers to shut their accounts as part of the boycott of Barclays. 
The Boycott Barclays campaign began in 1969 when the bank was exposed as a major investor in racist, apartheid South Africa. In recent years the focus has been on the bank’s colossal investments in Zionist Israel. 
 It works. Recently, data revealed that the bank has stopped underwriting Israeli government bonds under pressure from our boycott and protests.  
We must continue our campaigning to force the bank to permanently and publicly withdraw as a primary dealer of Israeli government bonds, and to divest from all companies arming Israel’s genocide and apartheid against Palestinians.
The Boycott Barclays campaign want as many people as possible to close their account on a single day, to send a clear message to the bank that its complicity in Israeli apartheid has a cost – it will lose a sizeable number of its customers who stand with Palestine, and this will have a greater impact if it is on a single day.
So if you’re still a Barclays or Tesco Bank customer, join the next mass account closure day on Thursday 30th July!

Defend Mark Bonnick!

 Mark Bonnick, the Arsenal kitman who had worked for the club for 22 years, was sacked for posting on social media in support of Palestine. He broke no FA rules. Arsenal's own appeal decision admitted his posts were never found to be antisemitic. They fired him anyway, because Zionists complained and the media picked it up. Mark, who is now working as a labourer on a construction site, is taking the club to a tribunal to try and get his job back. 
Arsenal has denied that it suspended Bonnick for antisemitism, instead claiming it was because he brought the club “into disrepute”. Bonnick maintains that the club discriminated against him due to his anti-Zionist beliefs. “Israel is an apartheid state,” he told Novara Media last year. “I was sacked not for misconduct, but for expressing grief and outrage over genocide”. 
Arsenal fans are rallying behind Mark and have organised a petition calling on the club to reinstate him, apologise, and compensate him for unfair dismissal. They say "on Christmas Eve 2024 Arsenal Football Club sacked Mark Bonnick, their kitman of 22 years, for posting on social media in support of Palestine.
“His dismissal followed a coordinated online smear campaign by pro-Israel accounts falsely accusing him of antisemitism.
“Arsenal's own appeal decision admitted the club had never found his posts to be antisemitic. The FA told Arsenal he had broken none of their rules. They fired him anyway, on the grounds that the media coverage had damaged the club's reputation.
Mark Bonnick broke no rules. He was targeted by a smear campaign, abandoned by the club he gave his life to, and left to work on a building site weeks before what should have been his retirement.
“This is the same club that publicly backed Black Lives Matter. That showed solidarity with Ukraine. That wraps itself in the language of equality and inclusion, then hands a dedicated employee his notice on Christmas Eve because pro-Israel accounts complained.
“And it goes deeper than just one worker. Arsenal sit second in War on Want's league table of complicity in Israel's genocide. Four of Arsenal's sponsors, Google/Alphabet, Meta, Coca-Cola and Expedia, are involved in Israel's atrocities. Senior executives of Deel, whose logo appears on Arsenal's shirts, have given supplies to Israel's armed forces during the genocide.
“A club that profits from sponsors embedded in Israel's military machine, then fires a man for opposing that machine, is not making a neutral employment decision. It is making a political one, on the wrong side".

New bid to ban Palestine marches

“I am absolutely horrified by the appalling attack on two Jewish Londoners,” said Jeremy Corbyn on hearing the news that two Jews had been stabbed in an apparently anti-semitic attack in Golders Green. The Metropolitan Police have now detained a man with a "history of serious violence and mental health issues". The suspect in the double stabbing has been identified as a British national who was born in Somalia and came to the UK legally in the 1990s.   
Corbyn, the former Labour leader, who now heads the Independent Alliance bloc in the House of Commons, said “my thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones and Jewish communities across the UK. We must stand united against racist attacks - and defend a society that embraces the common humanity of us all”. But attempts by others to connect a series of anti-semitic attacks in north London with the marches in solidarity with Palestine are false.
The Stop the War Coalition has been proud to be part of organising these mass marches in support of the people of Gaza and against the genocide of the Israeli government. In a statement issued this week the anti-war movement said “we have campaigned for justice for Palestine since our founding 25 years ago, because we recognise that this question is inextricably linked to the wars throughout the Middle East which continue today in Iran and Lebanon. 
“We believe that the statements by Jonathan Hall KC, suggesting that the Palestine marches should be subject to a ‘moratorium’ because of the series of antisemitic attacks in North London, are unacceptable. 
“We condemn unequivocally these attacks, as we do all forms of antisemitism and racism. No one should be attacked for their race or religion. 
“However, the attempts by Hall, sections of the media and some politicians to connect such attacks with the Palestine marches are wrong. Our marches are against the treatment of the Palestinians in Gaza, against the killing of up to 200,000 people in the past two and a half years, the destruction of most of the Gaza Strip, and the targeting of hospitals and other civilian sites. They are in protest at the role of the Israeli government, and the complicity of the British government in these attacks. 
“These marches are supported by many Jewish people who attend. They are not the ‘hate marches’ described by right wing politicians but expressions of solidarity and support for those under attack. The aims to criminalise the protests, which reflect majority public opinion in this country, or worse to connect them with racist or terrorist attacks being carried out against Jewish people, are scurrilous and should be rejected. They appear to be part of a wider agenda to clamp down on protest more generally, and to limit our rights. In a democracy, we have the right to peaceful protest and we will continue to exercise it. We will be marching on 16th May for the Nakba”.

A travesty of justice!

Two leading pro-Palestine campaigners were found guilty of breaching protest conditions this week. Ben Jamal, the director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and Chris Nineham, the  vice-chairman of the Stop the War Coalition, were both accused of failing to march within a designated area set by police during a mass protest in London last year.
The logs of the Police Gold Commander Adam Slonecki reveal that enormous political pressure was placed on the police by pro-Israel groups to prevent a protest at the BBC.
Claims of disorder on the day were simply false. The only moment of violence was when Nineham was brutally pulled to the ground and hauled away by police officers.
A key part of their defence was that the conditions imposed on the protest on 18th January 2025, which prevented a march to the BBC, were unlawful. The defence submitted a detailed legal argument outlining this case. But Judge Daniel Sternberg told the court that he was not obliged to give any reasons for his decision.
Stop the War said the verdict was “extraordinary and shocking and a huge setback for civil liberties” and that there were “significant concerns about the conduct of the six day hearing which will be raised during appeal”.
Jamal and Nineham were found guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court of failing to comply with conditions that required the protest to stay in an area in central London and not enter the surroundings of the BBC’s headquarters at Portland Place. Jamal was also convicted of two counts of inciting other protesters to breach police conditions. Both men were given conditional discharges and ordered to pay £7,500 each in costs.
Jeremy Corbyn, the former Labour leader who now heads the Independent Alliance in the House of Commons, said he was appalled at the court’s decision. “In January 2025, we held an entirely peaceful demonstration in support of Palestinian people. At all times, they — and we — followed all police instructions. We ended the demonstration by laying down flowers at their feet to mourn the deaths of Palestinian children” he said. “Today’s verdict is a dark day for civil liberties in this country — and is a disgraceful assault on the right to protest. My solidarity is with Ben, Chris and all those who have stood up for our common humanity in the face of genocide. This case is part of a wider attempt to intimidate the Palestinian solidarity movement into silence. They will never succeed”.

The Anti-Zionist International was launched in Birmingham last weekend. The original venue, The Old Print Works in Balsall Heath, cancelled the booking stating it could not provide a "safe space" following police scrutiny of the group's social media activity. But the event was subsequently moved to another location nearby. 
The campaign was described by supporters as an incredibly powerful and important event for reaffirming Palestinian liberation principles, bringing renewed energy and genuine hope for justice and freedom for Palestinians.
Latifa Abouchakra, a London-based journalist and contributor to Iran’s Press TV,  was arrested while travelling to Birmingham to attend the launch. The police said the arrest was linked to enhanced security arrangements surrounding the event. But activists  claim the action reflects pressure from pro-Israel lobbying interests, accusing authorities of selectively policing events that challenge or criticise the Israeli government. Latif Abouchakra is a prominent voice on Press TV's Palestine Declassified, where she openly criticises Israeli policies and the Zionist presence within Western institutions. 

Boycott Barclays now!

Palestine solidarity activists were out on the streets of Lewisham in south London last weekend  to demand Barclays stop financing Israel's genocide against Palestinians. Barclays bank provides £8.1 billion to companies supplying Israel with weapons used to kill Palestinians. 
Barclays also has an agreement with Israel to act as a “primary dealer” for its government bonds. This means Barclays helps Israel directly to raise money to fund its crimes against Palestinians.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) is calling on all concerned people to boycott all Barclays services. In 2024 5,000 people closed their Barclays accounts as part of our mass account closure days. Barclays has acquired ownership of Tesco Bank. PSC are therefore calling on all Tesco Bank customers to shut their accounts, and join the next mass account closure day.
Palestine Solidarity is asking everyone who holds a Barclays account to pledge to close it on the next mass account closure day, Thursday 19th February 2026, to have the most impact.

Protesters rallied in Whitehall near the Prime Minister’s residence in Downing Street last Thursday evening for an emergency demonstration condemning Israel’s latest bombing of the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 100 Palestinians including 46 children. They called for an end to the genocide and an immediate arms embargo on the Zionist entity. 

Lush says Stop Starving Gaza!

Beauty chain Lush shut its UK shops, factories and website on Wednesday in protest at the Israeli government "preventing urgent humanitarian assistance from entering Gaza".
The cosmetic giant said “we share the anguish that millions of people feel seeing the images of starving people in Gaza, Palestine. Like the rest of the world, we struggle to find ways we can help whilst the Israeli government is preventing urgent humanitarian assistance from entering Gaza. One thing Lush can currently send into Gaza is our love and a strong message that we stand in solidarity. This will take the form of halting business-as-usual by shutting our UK shops, website and factories for one day on Wednesday 3rd September 2025…
“Whilst Lush is losing a day of takings, this also means that the UK Government is losing a day of tax contributions from Lush and our customers. We hope they too hear the message our closure sends, with more Government action needed to bring an immediate stop to the death and destruction, including an end to arms sales from the UK”.
Lush’s Watermelon Slice soap has been the most successful single issue fund-raising product in the history of Lush, indicating how strongly our customers feel and we are grateful to have been able to raise funds towards child mental health support in Palestine. Lush plans to make this soap available again, with the funds going to medical services, including charities that are gearing up to provide prosthetic limb services to adults and children injured in Gaza.

Irish rapper Liam Og O hAnnaidh, known as Mo Chara (My Friend), appeared in a London court to fight a terrorism charge over allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag. Surrounded by hundreds of supporters, the Kneecap band member said the case was a distraction from Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The Kneecap rapper was released on unconditional bail after appearing in court over terror charges, after he was allegedly seen in concert videos waving a Hezbollah flag.  Outside the Westminster Magistrates’ Court after the hearing, O hAnnaidh told fans to “keep talking about Palestine, keep calling out genocide, that’s the real story,This is just another distraction”.

On Saturday over 300,000 of us marched to Whitehall to demand Keir Starmer ends all arms sales to Israel, expels Israeli diplomats and immediately imposes sanctions on the genocidal state. Meanwhile over a thousand other peaceful protesters had gathered in Parliament Square to defy the government's banning of Palestine Action under the “terrorism” laws. They occupied the square and took part in a silent ‘Defend our Juries’ vigil holding placards supporting the direct action solidarity movement. The Metropolitan Police who had warned that anyone taking part would be arrested under anti-terrorism legislation moved to break up the protest. There were 521 arrests, the largest mass arrest by the Metropolitan Police, ever. This marks a pivotal moment in British history. Ben Jamal, the director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign condemned the shameful arrests of those taking part in the Defend our Juries protests, while the Starmer government continues to arm Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Corbyn censures court over arms exports to Israel

Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the Labour Party who now heads the Independent Alliance in the House of Commons, has strongly censured the High Court for rejecting the challenge brought by rights groups, which sought to halt the export of British-made F-35 warplane parts to Israel. 
“A truly shameful decision. It remains a moral disgrace that this government allows the supply of parts to F-35 jets, used to kill Palestinian men, women and children. This isn’t over.  We will not give up until we have ended the UK’s complicity in genocide" Corbyn said.
London’s high court ruled on Monday that Britain’s decision to allow the export of the F-35 components to Israel, despite accepting they could be used in breach of international humanitarian law in Gaza, was lawful.
"Under our constitution that acutely sensitive and political issue is a matter for the executive which is democratically accountable to Parliament and ultimately to the electorate, not for the courts," the ruling said.
Oxfam presented powerful evidence linking the transfer of F-35 fighter jet components to Israel to the vast death and destruction in Gaza, a lawyer for the charity said.
“The evidence that Oxfam submitted demonstrated an obvious and worsening pattern of attacks by Israel on objects that are indispensable to the civilian population, including critical water and sanitation infrastructure,” said Carolin Ott, a solicitor at the law firm Leigh Day, which represented the charity.
“Coupled with the severe restrictions on humanitarian aid into Gaza, this has worsened the already dire humanitarian situation, and Oxfam provided powerful evidence to the court on the significant civilian harm that has resulted. My client is disappointed that the court has not properly grappled with these matters.”
Labour MP Richard Burgon said the ruling had made it "very clear" that the matter was one for the government and parliament, and called for an immediate vote in parliament if the government continued to export the parts.
"Let's end the passing of the buck. Let's end the saying it's for the courts to decide. The government needs to take moral responsibility now and decide whether or not it wants to continue complicity in genocide," Burgon said.
"If it makes the wrong decision, it won't necessarily be the courts that they need to be scared of in terms of judgment. It will be the judgment of people, the judgment of history, but mostly importantly, the judgment of the Palestinian people who deserve self-determination."
Glan and Al-Haq, and the three British human rights campaigns which are parties to the case, argued that under the Arms Trade Treaty and the Genocide Convention, the UK, as a state party to both, is obligated to stop sending the parts and that, by failing to follow its obligations, is threatening the rule of law globally.
Al Haq, the Palestinian human rights group which brought the legal challenge along with the UK-based Global Legal Action Network (Glan), said on Monday that the court had failed to meet its demands, but that the groups had "achieved a partial suspension of UK arms to Israel, exposed [government] complicity in war crimes and rallied public support. This is a breakthrough & just a start. We fight on for justice".
Yasmine Ahmed, the director of Human Rights Watch, one of three British human rights groups which intervened in the case, said she and others were "incredibly disappointed" by the ruling.
“Judicial deference to the executive in this case has left the Palestinians in Gaza without access to the protections of international law, despite the government and the court acknowledging that there is a serious risk that UK equipment might be used to facilitate or carry out atrocities against them," Ahmed said.
“The atrocities we are witnessing in Gaza are precisely because governments don’t think the rules should apply to them. This perception of impunity, which has been reinforced by the government’s unwillingness to suspend arms licensing, has led to unimaginable horrors and atrocities being carried out on Palestinians”.
The UK-made F-35 components make up 15 per cent of every F-35, one of the world's most sophisticated warplanes Israel has used extensively in its campaign of genocide in Gaza and its aggression against Lebanon. Israel has massacred more than 56,500 people in Gaza since October 2023, according to the Gaza health ministry.

Draw the line on Palestine!

On Wednesday 4 June thousands of protesters formed a red human chain around Parliament to demand sanctions on Israel and an end to using starvation as a weapon of war. Several MPs joined the “Red Line for Palestine” around the building during Prime Minister's Question Time was underway at the House of Commons. Others listened to Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Independent Alliance who was presenting a bill to call for an official inquiry into the British state’s role in Israel’s genocide. 
Early that day the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, had labelled the recent Israeli offensive as "appalling, counterproductive, and intolerable". But Ben Jamal, the director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) – one of the organisers of the protest, said "you cannot say 'what Israel is doing is unacceptable' while you continue to provide it with weapons. The words themselves are not enough".  The protesters were demanding that  "our government sanction Israel for its crimes against the Palestinian people".

Youth Demand protesters laid “body bags” outside Foreign Secretary David Lammy’s door and blocked roads in central London on Tuesday to demand an end to British arms to Israel. Later they joined other Palestinian solidarity movements to picket the Ministry of Defence HQ in Whitehall.

Nine arrested in police crackdown

Police repression has reached a new level after a meeting of a youth-led environmental and political activist group was broken up  and a number of houses of their supporters were raided last week. Over 20 Metropolitan Police officers crashed into a Youth Demand Welcome Talk at a Quaker meeting room in London and arrested six people for conspiracy to cause a public nuisance. In separate incidents  three other Youth Demand supporters were arrested in other parts the country. Youth Demand, which was established in January 2024, is part of a co-ordinating committee called Umbrella that includes three other direct action protest groups.  
Quakers in Britain said police officers, some equipped with tasers, forced their way into the Westminster Quaker Meeting House just before 7:15 pm. Officers reportedly “broke open the front door without warning or ringing the bell first, searching the whole building and arresting six women attending the meeting in a hired room”.
The Met told the media that "Youth Demand have stated an intention to 'shut down' London over the month of April using tactics including 'swarming' and road blocks. While we absolutely recognise the importance of the right to protest, we have a responsibility to intervene to prevent activity that crosses the line from protest into serious disruption and other criminality”.
The Quakers have condemned the raid saying they “support the right to non-violent public protest, acting themselves from a deep moral imperative to stand up against injustice and for our planet. Many have taken non-violent direct action over the centuries from the abolition of slavery to women's suffrage and prison reform”.
The Welcome Talk is an opportunity to share information about the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank and about the mass killing that is being imposed on vulnerable people across the globe as a result of the accelerating climate crisis. It is also an opportunity to share plans for non-violent civil resistance actions to take place in April.
One of those arrested was Ella Grace-Taylor, a student, who said “At this point, it couldn’t be clearer that we are in a police state. Our politicians will stand by as police engage in mass arrests and imprisonment of anyone who speaks out against the government for being responsible for genocide. By arming Israel and refusing to call what is happening a genocide, they are perpetrating mass slaughter.  Hundreds of children were killed in Palestine in the last week. We won’t stop saying it. We won’t be intimidated.“.
A Youth Demand spokesperson said “it’s clear that the government sees Youth Demand as a threat. They know that we are right.  There are thousands of young people who are horrified by what the government is doing to facilitate genocide and who know that they have been betrayed as their future is fucked. “We refuse to be ruled by liars, war criminals and arsonists. We will not let them get away with this. We refuse to be ignored. It’s time for young people to take to the streets day after day and shut London down. Only sustained mass resistance can put an end to genocide. A Pilgrimage for Palestine

Acclaimed playwright Peter Oswald embarked on a 150 mile pilgrimage for Palestine on 18th March. Leaving Bristol at the start, Peter was presented with a key by Feda Shahien of The Red Line and The Women in Black from Bournemouth. It is the key to the house in Palestine of Feda's grandmother, from which she was evicted by the Israelis. Peter will carry the key to Parliament Square in London. There he will hand it over to a Palestinian girl dressed in traditional Palestinian clothing. 
Pilgrim Peter is carrying a 'tear' made of Bristol blue glass, to be woven into a dress – a symbolic 'weave from tears the dress of impossible' – in London. At exhibitions all over the country people have woven 'tears' of various materials into the dress.  Over halfway there and Peter’s already raised over £10,000 for the Hands Up Project, a charity   that’s been working with Palestinian schools in Gaza and the Israeli occupied West Bank.
This has been achieved at sell-out events in towns all along the route to London.
In Bath local organiser Dionne McCulloch read out a poem specially written for the event by celebrated writer Max Porter. Also speaking poetry at this event and in Bradford on Avon was former Oxford Professor of Poetry Alice Oswald.
In Bradford-on-Avon Peter spoke to local children at an exhibition of illustrated poems by children from Gaza. Carrying the flag of Palestine, the Pilgrim for Palestine attracted some vitriol but overwhelmingly the response has been supportive. The “pilgrimage” has been covered by the global Al Jazeera Arab TV channel, and the Independent and London Evening Standard have featured articles about the pilgrimage.

Raising the Palestinian flag over Westminster

 A protester has been charged after he climbed up Big Ben in Parliament Square to raise the Palestinian flag last weekend. He stayed there for 16 hours before coming down to end the action designed to spread awareness regarding the situation in Gaza and Britain's response to it. Large crowds gathered in support beyond a police cordon. Parliamentary tours cancelled and Westminster Bridge closed, while police also blocked pedestrian access at Parliament Square after protesters began to gather near the edge of the cordon.

End Israeli Aggression!

NCP leader Andy Brooks joined other activists from International Ukraine Anti Fascist Solidarity (IUAFS) who were making the connection between the wars waged by NATO imperialism in Gaza and Ukraine at a Palestinian rally in Parliament Square last weekend. And throughout Europe tens of thousands of other protesters were also on the street condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. Thousands participated in demonstrations in Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Utrecht, Milan, Aarhus and Geneva. And in London in support of the Palestinian people, and to demand a ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian enclave.

Stop the Genocide!

Tens of thousands of people across England, Wales and Scotland took to the streets last Saturday in support of the demands to Stop the Genocide, Hands Off Lebanon and Don't Attack Iran.
Over 30,000 people packed London's Trafalgar Square, carrying Palestinian and Lebanese flags. One of the speakers from the plinth beneath Nelson's Column pointed out that current opinion polls show that only five per cent of British citizens are opposed to an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the huge gulf between the British people and the government --or to be specific, between the British people, the Labour and Conservative parties and the Unionist parties in the north of Ireland. All the other parties with members of the UK’s four parliaments have been calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire for many months now.
This is how Britain's ruling class blatantly defies the overwhelming will of the British people and makes a mockery of Britain's much vaunted 'democracy'.
People in Britain and around the world find it incredible that Israel has committed crimes under the Geneva Conventions – the indiscriminate targeting and collective punishment of civilians – for over a year with impunity. Now we see Israel killing thousands of civilians throughout Lebanon, a country not able to defend itself, and issuing diktats to residents ordering them to move or be bombed, with no condemnation from the leading Western countries.
More and more people are seeing the contradictions between Western outrage against actions by the Russian military in Ukraine and the free pass given to Israel to murder and starve civilians and bomb any country in the Middle East with no international mandate whatsoever.
And of course no politician or mainstream Western journalists is ever allowed to say a word about the Banderite Ukrainian junta’s military deliberately targeting civilians with missile attacks.

End Israeli aggression!

Activists from International Ukraine Anti Fascist Solidarity (IUAFS) joined the National Palestine march in central London on Saturday with placards making the connections between the wars waged by NATO imperialism in Gaza, Ukraine – and now Lebanon, the latest Arab country to be burned by the flames of war with the Israeli war machine insolently issuing diktats to civilians to move or face being killed or maimed.
Over 300,000 people took part in the march through the capital last weekend. It was clearly the largest for many months, almost certainly because the great majority of the British people have been horrified by the indiscriminate Israeli bombing which has so far killed over 1,100 Lebanese civilians and injured far more, including hundreds of women and children.
The IUAFS protest received an overwhelmingly positive response from the protestors, with dozens taking photos, and many showing heart signs and clenched fist salutes.
Increasing numbers of people in Britain, the US and the rest of Europe are finally beginning to see the connections between NATO weapons supplies to Israel and to Ukraine, and are questioning the insane sums being spent on a war which they see as impossible to win, when people at home want more money spent on schools, hospitals, housing and transport.
At the last national protest one speaker from the organisers said "We have a new Labour government in Britain, but they are telling us there's no money to solve the massive problems our country faces. There's no more money for housing, there's no more money for hospitals, there's no more money for schools and no more money for prisons. But there's always enough money for Israel, and there's always enough money for Ukraine".
And now victims of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in the USA are demanding to know why their government has just found $8 billion for Ukraine – on top of the $65 billion already given since 2022 – but can only cough up $750 each for the people who lost their homes.
The impact our small campaign is now making was confirmed recently when the Ukraine Solidarity Campaign (USC) – a pro-NATO group which supports the imperialists’ puppet regime in Kiev – published an article attacking us, and naming some of our activists. We have also discovered that the two men who aggressively harassed our last protest, on 28th September, were also members of the USC. Such attacks simply prove the effectiveness of our solidarity with Ukrainian democrats and anti-fascists, and they will not stop us from continuing our work for as long as it is needed.
