Peace campaigners gathered on a cold evening last Friday
outside
Downing Street to protest against western intervention
and arming of
the opposition in Syria, demand the withdrawal of western
troops from
Mali, and to call for an end to the seemingly endless
spread of war
around the globe. The protest was organised by the Stop
the War
Coalition, which said: “The war on terror is in danger of
spreading once again, with continuing threats of increased
intervention in Syria, the ongoing war in Mali and a possible attack on
Iran”. The
coalition has warned of the growing danger of “a
disastrous regional war” in the Middle East.
